Frozen Applesauce Cups

As summer break is creeping up on us, and the weather is getting warmer (hotter!), I thought I’d share one of our favorite summer treats: Frozen Applesauce Cups In place of a popsicle or ice cream, my boys love to grab a spoon and dig into this frozen snack.  It reminds me of the Italian Ice cups I’ve enjoyed many times, but without any sugar or corn syrup.   We like Mott’s Healthy Harvest- there are several apple + fruit {Read More}

30 Second No-Sew Bag from a Tank Top {Tutorial}

 Dig through your closet for an old tank top and grab two rubber bands (I used the hair kind).  Flip the tank inside out, gather the bottom and wrap the rubber bands around it. Turn it right side out.  That’s it!   Now you have a cute purse or grocery bag!

Ikey Pucky {Honey Cinnamon Spread)

One of my favorite meals from childhood was my mom’s veggie & cheese soup, cornbread, and Ikey Pucky.  Ikey Pucky was what we called honey butter.  I have no idea why we called it that, but it stuck. So, last month when a dear friend gave birth (at home!) to her first sweet baby I took a batch of my Secret Soup, rolls, and my (more nutritious) version of Ikey Puddy. Ikey Puddy1/2 cup coconut oil2 tablespoons honey1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Simply {Read More}

DIY Carpet Freshener

When I was a little girl, my mom used to buy vacuum beads.  They were little scented beads that she would put inside the vacuum bag and the house would smell nice when she vacuumed.   Here’s a super simple (and non-toxic) way to freshen your carpets and make your house smell amazing! Sprinkle a few drops of essential oils on three cotton balls, then vacuum the cotton balls up.  Voila!

Crockpot {Greek} Yogurt

A few years ago my oldest sister went on a yogurt-making kick.  She called me and convinced me of the deliciousness of homemade yogurt.  I wanted to jump on her bandwagon so I could make homemade plain yogurt for my baby, so I went to Williams-Sonoma.  I was so convinced, in fact, that I not only bought a yogurt maker, but I also bought extra glass jars to fit in the maker.   I’ve been making amazing yogurt twice a {Read More}

It seems like all moms have one product that has made mothering easier that they tell all their friends about.  I have a few, like The Best Stroller On The Market and The Very Best Baby Carrier Ever Made. But, by far, the one product I’ve raved about the most is the Baltic Amber teething necklace by Inspired By Finn.  When my preschooler was a baby I noticed a cute baby at church wearing a darling necklace.  I commented on how {Read More}

Salted Caramel Chocolate Syrup + How to Make a Perfect Iced Coffee

When I was a little girl I had a Sunday School teacher I adored.  She invited our class over one Saturday morning for what I’m sure was a lovely brunch, although I have no idea what she fed us.  I have virtually no memory of the day except one tiny piece of wisdom:  I remember her telling us that she ate 2 Hershey’s kisses every morning after breakfast.  She swore that satisfying her sweet tooth early in the day helped her keep {Read More}

Banana Avocado Ice Cream

Sometimes a little boy just needs ice cream for lunch.  He skinned his knee, or had a rough day at Montessori School or just because.   And sometimes a mama just wants to say yes instead of no.  She wants to create memories of a fun childhood.  So she whips up a batch of homemade ice cream that she can feel good about. There’s nothing quite like the face of a sweet little boy, blue eyes sparkling, on tip-toes trying {Read More}

Huevos Rancheros {My Favorite Meal Of All Time}

Huevos Rancheros is a traditional Mexican breakfast that usually consists of a corn tortilla and an egg with some sort of tomato sauce.  I’ve eaten it in many restaurants and each has their own version.  This is my version- that I eat at least once a week.  It is our go-to meal for anytime of day. Kimball’s Huevos Rancheros1 tortilla (I like to use a whole wheat and corn tortilla, but any type of tortilla is fine)refried beansshredded cheese1 eggbaby {Read More}
